“Le Riad Marc Cain”: A colourful journey with magical moments
On the 3rd July 2018 “Le Riad Marc Cain” impressed an audience including numerous VIPs and high-level influencers at Berlin Fashion Week. Having been at the last show I watched the livestream with envy, and reminisced to the last show and my trip to Berlin. Things were definitely hotter on the catwalk with the Spring/Summer 2019 collection presented with Moroccan flair and focus on sophisticated prints, vibrant pastel shades and strong boosts of colour.
Oh Marrakech, arguably one of the most evocative places in the world, it is a place of longing and inspiration. I have been twice now and it is like being immersed in the magic of ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Ali Baba and the Forty Theives’ a charm which has always attracted jet set celebrities. It is no surprise then that inspired by this charm, and under the motto “Le Riad Marc Cain” the Marc Cain Fashion Show came to life.
The smokey eye is ‘king’. If you have had pleasure of being able to spend time in the souks of Marrakech you’ll know that a kohl pencil, and the ‘smokey eye’ is the beauty takeaway of choice, this is clearly one of the collection’s main inspirations for Marc Cain’s SS19 make-up. And so it was employed here, too. As you can see from these backstage shots it lined the eyes and extended outwards for dramatic impact, giving the perfect finishing touch for this bright and bold collection.
With Morocco, and the African continent in particular, serving as a source of inspiration for prints, designs and details naturally this was a catwalk of strong colours. The influences from various cultures and ethnicity were at the forefront of the Fashion Show. Decorative earrings, turbans and colourful hairbands stole the show and spread a summer feeling amongst the audience. Ruffles, frills and flounces were a must when creating feminine, flowing maxi-dresses.
Once again Marc Cain collection proved that animal prints don’t just mean ‘Leopard’ we saw rose pink blouses with a herd of elephants emblazoned across them, and an exotic green shift dress with an appliquéd parrot. As per usually Marc Cain has upped the game and invited us to take a walk on the wild side with them!
Palazzo pants that we have loved and worn this season are here to stay, and are enjoying an even greater resurgence next summer. With tropical prints and an explosion of colour it is hard not to drift off to warmer climates and balmy summer nights… Oh wait that is us right night with our own heatwave and an excuse to wear all our gorgeous summer outfits! Once again Marc Cain maximised on impact by going for top-to-toe prints.
We also saw summer layering making a come-back with Capri pants were layered with pastel tones of sheer chiffon and stiff floral lengths. For the chicest way to wear this look then Smake sure you stick to a single colour combination.
Once again a high-class front row was in presence at the Marc Cain Show including: Veronica Ferres, Annemarie Carpendale, Joy Denalane, Bettina Zimmermann, Marie Bäumer, Liv Lisa Fries and many more who were not going to miss out. We even saw top bloggers & social influencers taking their seats including Stefanie Giesinger, Caro Daur, Leonie Hanne and Xenia Adonts. Oh and what can top the Show being opened by the famous super model Isabeli Fontana? Not to mention the catwalk also featured Talia Graf, niece of tennis legend Steffi Graf. That’s definately star studded enough in my books!
On the red carpet actress Veronica Ferres a guest for the third time to a Marc Cain Fashion Show quoted that “I love the variety of colours and patterns in the Collection. I’ve already even found some favourite pieces – I especially find the long dresses in the wonderful colour combinations with jungle print wonderful!”. I think we all agree with you Veronica, Marc Cain has a way of combining colour and print that you definitely do not see elsewhere and we all love!
So what are you waiting for… Get comfy and enjoy the highlight of the SS19 show.
